History of the city of Sisak

WITH THE SPREAD OF CHRISTIANITY, THE EARLY CHRISTIAN DIOCESE WAS FOUNDED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE 3rd. CENTURY, THE MOST FAMOUS OF ALL THE BISHOPS OF SISICA WAS ST. QUIRIN WAS BISHOP FROM 284. TO 303. YEAR WHEN THE LAST PERSECUTION OF THE CHRISTIANS BY THE ROMANS HAPPENED.

1874. THE YEAR WAS SIGNIFICANT FOR THE CITY OF SISAK BECAUSE CIVIL AND MILITARY SISAK WERE MERGERED, WHICH THEN GOT THE STATUS OF A FREE ROYAL CITY.

1991. a devastating aggression against the city of Sisak and its wider surroundings began. The aggression lasted for several years, bringing with it great destruction and suffering for the local population. However, the brave Croatian defenders from Sisak and the surrounding area did not stand helpless. When the moment came, they decided to start a decisive defense of their city.

After years of challenges and conflicts, the defenders showed fearlessness and determination in confronting the aggressors to defend their home and their community. Their courage and dedication in the fight for the freedom and security of their region played a key role in opposing aggression and establishing peace.

Through their own courage and joint effort, the defenders of Sisak and its surroundings deserve special recognition for their contribution to the defense of the city and the preservation of the fundamental values ​​and identity of their community. Their example shows how important it is to be brave and persistent in protecting what is most important to us – home and family.
