Throughout its history, this city occupied an important place among Croatian industrial centers thanks to the presence of an oil refinery, an ironworks, a river port and the production of flour and bakery products. It is located at the junction of the Odra and Kupa and Kupa and Sava rivers, which makes it a beneficial, but sometimes also swampy area of \u200b\u200bthe Pannonian Plain, characterized by a moderate continental climate. Over time, the development of the city was directed towards the banks of the Kupa, with occasional expansion on both sides of that river. During its many years of existence, this building had various purposes, and today it serves as the headquarters of the Tourist Agency of the city of Sisak. This imposing building has witnessed important events for centuries. The fact that it was in Veliki Kaptol, in 1839, is particularly significant year, the first theatrical performance in the Croatian language was held in the \u0161tokavian dialect called &#8220;Juran and Sofia&#8221;. Located on Ban Josip Jela\u010di\u0107 Square, Veliki Kaptol has been the headquarters of the Diocese of Sisak since 2009. year. Although relatively new as a cathedral, it received this status in December 2009. year, while it previously served as a parish church. In order to defend Sisak from Turkish attacks, the Old Bridge was also built. The distance from the Old Town to the center of Sisak is about two kilometers. Today, this historical site hosts a museum that shows the history of the fortress, but also of the entire city. Inside the fortress there is also a restaurant, a favorite place for holding weddings, baptisms and other ceremonies. On this site, the remains of a rampart, a tower and a granary were discovered, dating from the end of the 2nd until the beginning of the 4th century. The archaeological park in Sisak is a valuable source of information about the city&#8217;s past and bears witness to its important position in Roman times as &#8220;Siscia&#8221;.
